What inspired the Merkaba (Light, Spirit, Body) art work?

The word Merkaba is a combination of three words – Mer (means: Light), Ka (means: Spirit), and Ba (means: Body). In essence the Merkaba is the unity of light and spirit with the physical body.

The Merkaba shape forms the image of the divine Merkaba vehicle, which is considered to be a vehicle - made from light. And a protective shield that can keep us safe, spiritually and physically.

It is a symbol of pure divine energy (prana), the life force; constantly flowing, re-balancing, and expanding. It is the ‘energy field’ that infuses us, and surrounds us. It is the ‘energy field’ that connects all things within and throughout the universe. The Merkaba is utilised in meditation to transcend to higher states of consciousness. The experienced practitioner is able to connect to other dimensions and higher realms, while remaining balanced, humble and grounded.

While in human form, the union of light, spirit and the body can produce a visible light that can be seen radiating outwards. This image is synonymous with enlightenment. It was often depicted in ancient artworks to honour the enlightened beings of times gone by.
